The endorsement sits on the lower band at $101, because Egypt does not require a rabies antibody titer result on the export certificate and the higher $160 fee applies only where a test result has to be verified on the paperwork. The certificate is then valid for 14 days after issuance, and it has to be legalized by an Egyptian diplomatic mission inside that window. That is where this route gets tight rather than expensive.

The APHIS certificate states that the rabies vaccination must have been given within the last 12 months and that the animal has to arrive in Egypt at least 30 days before the twelve month anniversary of that vaccination. Read together, that is an arrival deadline of eleven months after the shot. Work it through: a dog vaccinated on 1 March can land up to the end of the following January. A flight in February is refused even though the vaccination is still inside its twelve months, and the gap between those two dates is where plans come apart. The fix is cheap when it is caught early: revaccinate before departure and the clock restarts. It is expensive when it is caught at the endorsement stage, because a new vaccination and a new certificate mean a new flight.

The certificate says in plain words that animal microchips are not required for entry into Egypt. That is unusual and it is worth knowing, but it is not the same as a reason to skip one. The microchip is what ties a rabies record to a particular animal, most airlines and handling agents expect it, and a pet that may later move on to a third country will need one anyway. Treat it as a small cost that protects the paperwork rather than as a requirement Egypt has waived. Where a microchip is fitted, the accredited veterinarian verifies it on the certificate in the ordinary way, and the number then appears against the rabies vaccination entry, which is exactly the link an official at either end will look for.

Your vet sets their own fees. The examination, the rabies vaccination and a microchip if you fit one are billed by the clinic and vary by state. The consular legalization fee is set by the Egyptian mission handling your file, and travel to that mission is yours to cover. On the Egyptian side, veterinary import work is run by the General Organization for Veterinary Services, which examines the certificate and the animal at the port. We have not found a published Egyptian figure for a routine holding period, an import permit, a port restricted to pets, a cap on numbers or a restricted breed list, so none of those are estimated here.
